Low Methionine Food Suggestions

This is a temporary list while we update the original Methionine Project List, which we found was not quite as accurate as we were lead to believe. It will take a bit to make the corrections, so in the meantime the list I had up here before has been updated. Please be patient and we will have the full list here soon.   Thank you.

(All numbers are taken from the USDA listing. If it wasn’t there a “-“ was placed in the column).

If you find that any numbers are incorrect please email your information with documentation of where you got the new information from so we can confirm.  Once we have we will make the appropriate changes.  Together we can keep this list accurate.

I am going to start color coding this list to make it easier for you to decide what you should eat over other options.  So as in a traffic light GREEN will be “eat as much as you like“, YELLOW will be “caution” (more on this later), and RED will be “eat only on high weeks“.  Today I have the Green labeled and some labeled Yellow and RedBlack is undetermined.  As I get confirmation on these I will update the list.

·      Alcohol can cause inflammation. You may want to abstain or use it sparingly.
·      Sugar is known as food for cancer cells, however, when used while taking selenium works as a Trojan Horse. Recommended sugars to use are Maple syrup & Honey. Still, use sparingly.
·      Salt is best used from it’s purest form. Cheap salts may also have fillers included that may contribute to other health issues.
·      Cellophane noodles also known as mung bean noodles, bean threads, crystal noodles, glass noodles, & Chinese vermicelli
·      Agar is usually found as a powder, used to thicken.
·      Pickled eggplant is 0.
·      Green plantains-fried is 0.
·      Fava Beans-raw only (best to avoid on low weeks anyway)
