On August 1, 2014 I found out I had an aggressive form of breast cancer. Against the advice of my doctors, I opted for a natural healing even though they tried to scare me into a mastectomy and chemo. I didn’t do this without first doing my due diligence. I researched on line, read a multitude of books, and asked a lot of questions of those around me that inevitably lead me to one of my resources: UCAAN. I requested information on any place that was fighting cancer by natural means. I was given the name and number of Mark Simon of Natural Oncology Research Institute or NORI here in California.

On the NORI protocol I had to change from an omnivore to a vegan literally overnight. My family and I would eat vegetarian at least once a week in the past but going completely vegan? Not only do you have to eat as a vegan, you are limited on what you can eat even at that. Finding recipes that were tasty and ones I could really look forward to wasn’t easy.

This website was born out of the need to find appetizing meals with the limited amount of foods available on the NORI protocol. I have done an extensive search of the web as well as recipes I find here and there. Most do not fit into the protocol, so I have also rewritten the recipes to become protocol friendly. You can be assured of staying in the restrictions as you fight your cancer. All recipes have been prepared and tasted by my family and myself before placing them here. You can also find information concerning weight loss as well as hair and skin issues you may experience while on the protocol.

Since this is a new site you should come back often. Things should be changing pretty fast as I continue to build this site for you. I have lots of ideas to share and I hope you will enjoy what you find here and feel free to offer suggestions on how I can serve you better. Examples of some of the things I have planned for the site are:
• Lots of recipes with low methionine amounts
• Reviews of restaurant’s that offer vegan and if they can accommodate the NORI protocol
• Special menu’s for the Holiday’s
• How to deal with going to parties and not feel left out
• Shopping lists
• Staples you should keep at all times
• Where to get organic/naturally grown veggies
• Q & A section

Keep in mind that this is a work in progress.  I will try to post at least once a week.  Once you are a member, if you need a special recipe and you can’t find it here just send me an email telling me what you are looking for and I will get back to you.  You will be helping me as much as I am helping you.  You can be sure it will show up somewhere on the site for everyone else to enjoy.

  • Hi Virginia, I spoke to Mark a little over a week ago and joined your FB group. Would love to hear how the Nori protocol has worked for you. I have BC as well. Also would like to get your low Meth list but could not find it.

    • Hi Sondra, Still getting use to the way this site works and didn’t see your question till today, sorry for the delay. The low methionine list can be found in two places. The one on this site is based off of the one at http://www.methionineproject.com/ which is more extensive. I just went through it to find .005 or less foods to make it easier to shop for your low weeks and still get to eat a lot. At the top far right you should find my short list of really low methionine foods.

      • A new updated version of the methionine list is now available under RECIPES. Please do not rely on the METHIONINE PROJECT listing since we found out it is not fully accurate. We have added a lot more information we thought would be helpful like calories, Calcium, Protein and how it is prepared and the changes that happen. Hope this helps everyone.

    • I’m sorry you are having problems with so many replies. I do not have the power on my end to change this. According to WordPress you do this yourself.
